Loose Leaf Tea

Loose leaf tea has been used for thousands of years for their many health benefits. Many commercial tea bags contain toxins and chemicals which can leach into the water you are drinking which is why loose leaf can be a cleaner option. Loose-leaf is also usually fresher than store-bought tea bags and has more surface area which means the flavor can be enhanced. Always choose organic teas to avoid pesticides. Certain compounds found in teas are responsible for their positive health effects. Antioxidants such as polyphenols and flavonoids, for instance, can be found in significant amounts in green tea, black tea, white tea, and oolong.  These antioxidants can help to reduce inflammation by fighting free radical and DNA damage, improving insulin and glucose control, and supporting cardiovascular health (1).
